Where are you guys based? East coast of Scotland not that far from St. Andrews. Sharpie - who does nothing except crash things - is in Loughborough (About 100 miles North of London, England). However one the servers you listen into on, is in Canada (Montreal) and the guy that manages that server is in Chile. The other server is in the states in Atlanta. The website is on a server in Chicago. So it's a worldwide operation to get Random Rampage working. Why did Rampage start? It was a attempt by Andrew to get girls to like him, a quick look at the presenters page shows couple years on that goal is still a dream. Now it's mixing the unheard with the main stream to create the ultimate alt. rock mix. The station also serves as gateway to Hayley Williams (Paramore) under the ethos if we bug their label enough we'll get an interview agian that hasn't worked. What's This 160kbps and 64kbps stuff about? These are the bit rates of the stream the higher the bit rate the better the quality. To give you an idea around 32 would be AM and 96 would be FM quality and CD is around 128kbps, so that puts Random Rampage in a league of it's own, well not really it's quite common for internet radio stations to sound better than FM these days. The 160kbps stream is run from a server that Andrew manages so it may not be as reliable as the 64kbps stream but it should be online about 99% of the time that the lower bitrate one is online... Do you ever talk live? No, we're too lazy Desipte being 4 of us, we don't seem to have time for this. Running the station takes up so much time to begin with. We're hopeing come summer '09 you should start to hear people agian. We've had some DJs ask if the can come on the station answer at the moment is kinda of no but send us your stuff if you want, we might change this policy. Why are you online and not on FM? The amount of times people ask this, simple it costs waay toooooo much. Well that's not really true, to be legal and on FM it costs far too much. Who knows maybe one day, £100,000 anyone? Also... Andrew's parents would probably have a problem if he built an FM transmitter and 100 meter mast in their garden... Random Rampage is AWESOME! how can I help? Well Obviously. Just listen makes us feel our work isn't going unoticed. Money is good though, it's a key item to keep Random Rampage running. The site looks werid Internet Explorer makes dodgy things happen to the site it's at its best seen using Firefox Why isn't there a Random Rampage music video stream? We do techically have the infrastructure and bandwidth available to do this. The problem is we'd want to match the quailty of the Rampage Radio stream ie. boardcast in High-def. There are very few music videos out there at that kind of quality not enough to make a music channel out of it. How many people would watch it? If your at your computer, why not just play the video on youtube? What time are new releases added? We're so dedicated, that we can have a new ablum added before it's even been officially released but more often than not monday afternoon. Are you legal? We pay royalties to the PPL. How come you have so much music? Alternative music, it's what we do.... Current playlist stands just over 9 days long. How difficuit is it to run the station? Quite hard. To keep the station online four computers have to say turned as do many, many routers and switchs. Software has to manage to run without crashing, it's some feat to keep Rampage running. Athough it's not monitered at a guess this might hapeen 95-98% of the time. Song X by Y isn't alternative. Most likely it isn't and your right, some how managed to get on here by mistake. It has happened before. Email us (see contact page) and if we agree we'll take it off. I'm an unsigned band please play my music? At the moment a VERY small percentage of the playlist goes to unsigned acts. If you want to email us a link to your myspace page etc. and if we're a fan we might add your music for a few months. Might even get an interview done. What do you use to make the website? Now this going to sounds geekie....Most of it powered by Joomla, a MYSQL/PHP content management system, which is very powerfully and works well with almost daily updates the website seems to be getting (even if you can't seem them). Some other parts are custom code Andrew's put together, generally the parts of the site that don't work. When is the station offline? Like when do we perform maintenance? Normally there will be a post to tell you but most often happens iate on Firday early on Saturday morning. Other resons the station could be offline, are mostly down to Andrew pressing buttons and unpluging things he shouldn't... Why do you have so many phone numbers? Andrew got slightly carried away, there are actually more numbers than are listed here on the site.... What's with all the random voiceovers? Perhaps that's why we're Random Rampage, perhaps not. Maybe one day we'll pay for some proper ones that are actually funny. Why does "Andrew" get mentioned so much on this page? The others have no sence of hummor
